Georgia Tech will open the season September 2, 2006.
Coach Chan Gailey announced after spring drills he was turning over play-calling responsibilities to offensive coordinator Patrick Nix, who has been on the staff four years. Nix was named coordinator in 2004, but Gailey continued to call plays the last two seasons. Nix, 34, has called plays at three previous coaching stops -- Henderson (Ark.) State, Jacksonville State, and Samford.

Reshad Jones is arguably the #1 pure safety prospect in the south. Without a doubt he was the best player left in the state of Georgia that hadn't made a decision... until now.
Reshad Jones waited until signing day to announce if he was going to Georgia or LSU.
In a press conference held at the media center of Booker T. Washington High School, Scout.com's 4 Star Safety Reshad Jones committed to Georgia.
Jones picked the home state Bulldogs over a slew of offers including LSU and Miami.
"I wanted to play for the home state," said Jones

The Georgia football team has gotten a lot of acclaim this summer, and summer camp hasn’t even started yet.
In the last two weeks, four different Bulldogs have been named to preseason watch lists for five national awards.
Senior defensive end Quentin Moses has gotten the most praise. Moses was named to both the Chuck Bednarik Award and Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch lists. The Bednarik and Nagurski awards are presented to the nation’s most outstanding defensive player and best defensive lineman of the year, respectively.
Moses was second in the SEC in 2005 with 11.5 sacks and 20.5 tackles... (more)

The question comes from all sorts of people in all sorts of places.
Near the produce section and in the church pew. On talk radio and in idle chit-chat.
From relatives and friends, boosters and reporters, the next-door neighbor and the boss.
Georgia football coach Mark Richt wishes he could say with certainty who his starting quarterback will be because it would significantly reduce the stress level that accompanies August.
"I think people think I know what the deal is right now and I don't," said Richt, one of 12 state college coaches who attended Wednesday's Peach State Pigskin Preview... (more)

With the 2006 football season still months away, the Georgia Bulldogs couldn’t wait that long to take the field.
Tuesday University players and coaches helped run a football clinic at Camp Sunshine, a camp for children with cancer, for their summer community service.
The children at Camp Sunshine participated in various football-related drills each day. The kids were also excited with the opportunity to get autographs and have pictures taken with the players and coaches.
Camp Sunshine is a two-week summer camp for children with cancer held each year at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge. The camp... (more)
